The Birmingham Assay Office has announced the launch of its special Rainbow Logo mark which has been created to be applied as an optional mark alongside the hallmark and date letter for 2020. The Rainbow Logo will be available for a limited period from the 1st July until December 2020. The mark depicts the iconic Rainbow symbol that has become synonymous during the current pandemic. Taxman issues warning after jeweller banned from running business

Company directors have been warned to keep detailed financial records after Gary Wright director of a watch and jewellery wholesaler AS Diamonds in Stevenage was banned from acting as a director for six years for failing to explain away irregular payments. Wright treated HMRC 'detrimentally', according to the Insolvency Service, by charging VAT on almost £500,000 worth of sales invoices but not filing any VAT returns or paying any VAT to HMRC. Although Wright did submit accounting records, they were considered 'inadequate' by the Insolvency Service who claimed they were unable to verify the purpose of payments made to himself

Due to the ongoing travel and contact restrictions designed to stop the spread of the global coronavirus pandemic, Messe München has decided to cancel INHORGENTA MUNICH 2021. The decision was taken in detailed consultation with the advisory board, as well as exhibitors, visitors and partners of Europe’s leading platform for jewelry, watches and gemstones. HCA's Red List of Endangered Crafts Grows with 37 New Additions

For the 2019 edition of the Heritage Craft Association's Red List of Endangered Crafts, 212 crafts were assessed to identify those which are at greatest risk of disappearing. Of the 212 crafts featured in the research, four have been classified as extinct, 36 as critically endangered, 70 as endangered and 102 as currently viable.  Sixteen new crafts have been added to the ‘critically endangered’ category of the Red List, meaning that they are at serious risk of dying out in the next generation, including withy crab pot making, millwrighting and commercial handmade paper making.
