Strong performance earns Anna Blackburn place on Beaverbrooks board

A strong performance from retail chain Beaverbrooks has earned managing director Anna Blackburn a place on the board, marking only the second time in the company's 99 year history that a non family member has served as a board director. Blackburn has been with Beaverbrooks for 20 years, starting out as a shop assistant in Manchester,  and has served as chief executive since 2013, when she became the first non-family CEO in the company's history. Since then, the company has enjoyed sustained growth with turnover rising by around 20% and operating profits doubling, despite a challenging UK market. Anna Blackburn
