BFC Fashion Trust Announces 2017 Grant Recipients

Th e British Fashion Council has announced that its charitable initiative BFC Fashion Trust has awarded grants totalling  £450,000  between eleven designers; the largest donation by the trust to date. New recipients for 2017 are Edeline Lee, Georgia Hardinge, Isa Arfen, Sharon Wauchob and Teatum Jones. In 2017 the BFC/Vogue Designer Fashion Fund will adjust its format to focus on bringing key expertise into designer businesses to assist with development and growth In recognition of the increasing pool of deserving talent the £200,000 grant will be shared between up to three recipients, which will enable the fund to benefit multiple designers at a pivotal stage in the growth of their brand’s development. The British Fashion Council (BFC) Education Foundation is a registered charity that offers scholarships to talented young people to study BAs and MAs. The BFC has been supporting MA Scholarships since 1998 and the recipients are now seen as the next generation of talented designers. London Fashion Week 2020 17th - 22nd September 2020  British Fashion Council (BFC) today announces that London Fashion Week September 2020 will run from 5pm BST   Thursday 17  to Tuesday 22  September 2020 , inviting both womenswear and menswear designers to take part in its gender-neutral showcase. Alighieri set to grow brand after landing first NEWGEN award

British jeweller Alighieri has become the first jeweller to receive NEWGEN support from the British Fashion Council under the restructured sponsorship scheme. For the first time in 25 years, jewellery and fine jewellery have been incorporated into the annual womenswear and menswear designers awards as part of a new Accessories category, comprising also shoes, bags and hats.  Jewellery and millinery awards were previously made under the BFC’s Rock Vault and Headonism initiatives but as of 2018, these will cease to exist as the BFC seeks to group all Britain’s emerging talent across all designer fashion sectors into one category.  Previous

The Fashion Awards 2016 Trophy Designed By Marc Newson For Swarovski

The British Fashion Council (BFC) and Swarovski have commissioned Marc Newson to create a bespoke crystal trophy for The Fashion Awards 2016 in partnership with Swarovski which will take place at the Royal Albert Hall on Monday 5th December. Created with the resources and technical ability of Swarovski and crafted from Swarovski Crystal, the hexagonal design draws inspiration from crystal clusters and rock structures. The trophies are all handcrafted at Swarovski’s headquarters in Wattens, Austria and will complete an 800 mile journey from there to the Royal Albert Hall in London. Each trophy measure 245mm in height by 67mm wide.

British Fashion Council Launches British High-End Manufacturers Database

Caroline Rush CBE, CEO of the British Fashion Council and Professor Christopher Moore, Director of the British School of Fashion, Glasgow Caledonian University have  launched the British Fashion Council’s new  British High-End Manufacturers Database. The national database of UK-based manufacturers aims to make it easier for designers to form supply chain relationships and reach production units. The British High-End Manufacturers Database  is the first milestone of 2017 for the BFC’s Positive Fashion initiative. The BFC Fashion Arts Foundation and the Royal Academy Schools are committed to encouraging and nurturing future talent. A new commissioning project will bring together fashion designers and visual artists to collaborate across art forms. The project is called Fashion Art Commissions and will pair graduates from the RA Schools with NEWGEN and NEWGEN MEN designers. The commission will produce artworks that will form part of an auction at Christie’s. The pieces will be on display from the 31st October – 11th November at Christie’s King Street gallery and will then be part of an online auction from 22nd November

London Fashion Week Joins London Fashion Week Men’s at The Store Studios 2017

The British Fashion Council (BFC) launches London Fashion Week Festival and moves its three Bi-annual events into one home. It was announced that the BFC will move its two bi-annual events, London Fashion Week and London Fashion Week Festival to join London Fashion Week Men’s at The Store Studios, located at 180 Strand, WC2. The British Fashion Council (BFC) is pleased to announce the six Rock Vault jewellers who will display their latest collections during London Fashion Week September 2016.
