Resident makers enjoy 24 hours access to their own creative space, peer to peer support and exciting maker opportunities, including training, development, mentoring, teaching and selling opportunities. Appointment: Russell Lownsbrough elected as Chair of Institute of Professional Goldsmiths

The Institute of Professional Goldsmiths promotes and supports craftspeople of the highest calibre, who produce only the finest workmanship. The Institute of Professional Goldsmiths (IPG) held it's 36th Annual General Meeting on the 26th of February where a new Chairman, Russell Lownsbrough FIPG, was appointed with universal approval by attendees.  Two new members were also admitted to the Executive Committee, Wayne Meeten FIPG and Danila Tarcinale FIPG. John Donald (1928 -2023)

John Donald, one of the fathers of Contemporary Jewellery died aged 94 on Thursday 21st September, after a short illness.  His contribution to jewellery design cannot be underestimated, from his mentoring of generations of apprentices to his innovative techniques and designs; some of which can be seen in the work of some jewellers at this week's Goldsmiths' Fair. His work can be seen in the collections of The Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths and the V&A amongst others, the former have 28 works by him in their collection.  13 pieces of his work commissioned by Princess Margaret, a major client, were auctioned by Christie's in 2006.   One of the

The UK-wide industry-supported initiative Bright New Gems has opened for applications to 2025 BA and MA jewellery graduates from UK colleges and universities. Now in its twentieth year, the programme offers a unique platform for emerging designers to access professional mentoring, industry exposure, and commercial opportunities. Since its launch, Bright New Gems has supported 92 graduates—among them leading names such as Fernando Jorge, Jessica McCormack, Tomasz Donocik and Pippa Small—helping them make the transition from education to industry.
