Introduction to Enamelling A two day, weekend course learning the magic of enamelling! The class will look at traditional techniques such as Sgraffito, Plique a jour and Cloisonné. Students will learn how to prepare the metal, the different types of enamel, the use of the kiln, stencilling and stamping, graphite with enamel as well as other effective, simple techniques. We will also look at how to apply findings to an enamelled design i.e earring post, jump rings and brooch backs. By the end of course you will have a beautiful piece of enamelled jewellery and the skills to create more!

The Guild of Enamellers is delighted to announce Valentina Boneva as the 2019 winner of their annual Bursary Award. Valentina recently completed the HND Jewellery at Glasgow Kelvin College, Glasgow. Valentina started working with enamels this year as a means to add colour to her work and to complement the use of gemstones in pieces. Valentina’s innovative selection pieces were complex and transformable pieces comprising an etched and enamelled boat “stand” that deconstructed into earrings, necklaces and a ring. Alexander Wood's jewellery skills earn top ten in the world place

Young British jewellery maker Alexander Wood left Abu Dhabi with a champions medal after earning a coveted top 10 place at the 44th WorldSkills Competition recently. Alexander, a member of the Goldsmiths’ Company Apprenticeship Scheme and currently earning his spurs with Ian Read Diamond Setters in Kent,  received a Medallion of Excellence for reaching the international standard in the Jewellery skills category.  His achievement was the result of three years worth of training,  honing his silversmithing, polishing, micro-setting and enamelling skills though he started his selection process for WorldSkills back in September 2015 when he became one of eight trainee
