The Birmingham Assay Office has announced the launch of its special Rainbow Logo mark which has been created to be applied as an optional mark alongside the hallmark and date letter for 2020. The Rainbow Logo will be available for a limited period from the 1st July until December 2020. The mark depicts the iconic Rainbow symbol that has become synonymous during the current pandemic. Three second year students studying for a Higher National Diploma in Jewellery and Silversmithing at the Birmingham City University's School of Jewellery have been shortlisted as finalists in an annual design competition run by Birmingham-based casting house, 3D printing and bespoke manufacturing company Weston Beamor. The brief for this year’s Live Project was to design a halo engagement ring and a fitted wedding band to sit alongside it. Emerson, was a silversmith and Liveryman of the Goldsmiths’ Company. New Designers, a platform promoting new creative talent from graduates, has announced the 2020 recipients of the Goldsmiths’ Company awards for jewellery and silversmithing. This Autumn Benchpeg launched a competition open to Birmingham School of Jewellery students and alumni to design our annual Christmas Tree Decoration. We had some innovative, thoughtful and creative designs submitted in response to the quite constrained brief, but the winner selected by the Benchpeg team, was designed by Kate Dugmore. The design entitled ‘GeoGems’ has the illusion of shattered facets within a diamond form, which is both contemporary and challenging. Birmingham City University's School of Jewellery student Kai-Blu Triassi has won the annual Weston Beamor Live Project with his contemporary geometric ‘Dyad’ engagement and wedding ring set design. Kai-Blu’s award was announced on the WB stand at this year’s Jewellery & Watch show.
