On 30th of September the awards ceremony and party of Enjoia’t 2016 organized by Artists and Artisans of Fomento para las Artes Decorativas (A-FAD) took place at the garden of the Maritime Museum of Barcelona, with a large attendance by the Spanish jewellery community.

At the party, the creative shortlisted pieces were displayed, which were designed to consider small-scale production, using unforeseen materials and techniques.

Twenty three semi-finalist designers presented their jewellery pieces during that same afternoon to the jury, which was the XXII edition of the event,

The jury was presided over by the jeweller and member of A-FAD, Enric Majoral, the industrial designer Martín Azúa, the jewellery designer Nuria Ruiz, Maria Luisa Samaranch, editor and collector, and María Díez, jeweller and professor at Escola Massana.

The jury awarded the following prizes:

  • Winner Professional Category: Karin Roy
  • Finalist Professional Category: Angela Estenson
  • Finalist Professional Category: Sébastien Carré
  • Winner Student Category: Xiaodai Huang
  • Finalist Student Category: Yili Cao
  • Finalist Student Category: Bàrbara Arnau
  • Winner Opinion Award: Angela Estenson

The jury has been composed by five professionals in the jewellery field: Enric Majoral, jeweller and A-FAD member; Martín Azúa; industrial designer; Núria Ruiz, jeweller designer; Maria Lluïsa Samaranch, editor and collector; and Maria Diez, jeweller and professor at Massana School.

Finalists and winners recieved their diplomas from the jury members and also from Muntsa Vilalta, Director of CCAM; Victòria Rabal, A-FAD President; and Alícia Roselló, A-FAD Vice president.

Opinion Prize Enjoia’t 2016

For the Opinion Prize Enjoia’t 2016 vote was opened to the public, where audience at the event mingled with shortlisted designers, who wore their own creations at the party. The audience approached the designers to take a closer look to their pieces and ask them about the materials, techniques and concepts of their work. Once they had decided their favourite jewel, they voted through social networks.

The winners of the professional and student prizes Enjoia’t 2016 were coronated with art works created by the winners of the previous edition: Laurent Kalman and Akiko Shinzado. The crowns will join the Enjoia’t crowns collection of A-FAD. The winners will have a stand at JOYA Barcelona fair next year as well as being in charge of designing the crown for the awarded jewellers 2017.

22 Years of Enjoia’t Prizes

For another consecutive year, A-FAD Fomento para las Artes Decorativas has organized the Enjoia’t prizes of contemporary jewellery, a unique event in the field that, for twenty-two years, rewards the most originals and astonishing proposals. Furthermore, it is a meeting point for more than one hundred designers all over the world at a small-scale production creativity call.

The Enjoia’t Prizes have been included at JOYA Barcelona, which took place at Arts Santa Monica in Barcelona, where the pieces of the finalists were showed and the stands of the winners from the previous edition were placed.
