Contemporary British Silversmiths launch skill share films

The Contemporary British Silversmiths have launched a skills share initiative where members will be sharing some of the skills that have been passed onto them by other craftspeople throughout their career. The Contemporary British Silversmiths has a long history of community and skills sharing - peer to peer learning is one of the organisation’s founding principles. The first skill share is from Rauni Higson, and shows master silversmith Tony Bedford demonstrating how to solder a wire rim onto a flared vase. ACID members Core Products Limited commenced proceedings in respect of four of its Augusta range of designs against each of FW Style Limited, IQ GB (UK) Limited, Furnished With Style Limited and their directors alleging infringement by their Enkel Furniture range.  The Proceedings, issued by ACID Legal Affiliates Taylors Solicitors, were initially defended, the Defendants alleging independent origination. Goldsmiths' Craft and Design Council Launch the 19/20 'Jewellery Oscars' at IJL 2019

As well as hosting a programme of glittering events at this years' International Jewellery London, the Goldsmiths' Craft and Design Council also launched the 2019/20 edition of the Goldsmiths' Craft & Design Awards, lovingly dubbed the "Oscars of the Industry".  The annual GC&DC Awards inspire and encourage excellence and skills development among graduates, apprentices, designers and masters working in jewellery, silversmithing and the allied trades. UK Jewellery Businesses embark on Innovative Ventures with the Goldsmiths’ Centre’s Business Catalyst (Large) Grants

The Goldsmiths’ Centre has announced the recipients of its Business Catalyst (Large) Grants, which are designed to support entrepreneurial jewellers, silversmiths, and allied industry practitioners across the UK. Jewellers Hannah Bedford, Ellis Mhairi Cameron and Shola Branson have each been awarded grants of up to £7,000. The grants are funded through modern philanthropic giving by members of the Goldsmiths’ Company to the 1327 Fund.
