Hugo Madureira’s Calypso Ring, featured on the September issues of Vogue’s cover, is made of 18K white gold, reconstructed coral, snowflake obsidian and diamonds. Part of the Kastellorizo Collection, it draws inspiration from Ancient Greek mythology -  Calypso - the goddess-nymph of the mythical island of Ogygia, promised Odysseus eternal youth and immortality in return of love. Hugo was born in Porto in 1982. He studied product design, jewellery making and visual arts in Portugal and Finland. Experienced Silversmithing Residency - January 2025 The Hugo Burge Foundation Berwick Upon Tweed The Hugo Burge Foundation are looking for an experienced silversmith (8+ years experience/postgraduation) to join us in the month of January for a fully-funded silversmithing residency. To celebrate the opening of the Marchmont Silversmithing Workshops, the Scottish Goldsmiths Trust has created a day programme on the Saturday 25 March for silversmiths, collectors, curators and industry VIPs to include the formal opening of the workshop, talks, panel discussion and silversmithing demonstrations. Emerging Silversmith Residency - February 2025 The Hugo Burge Foundation Berwick Upon Tweed We are looking for an emerging silversmith (min. 3 years postgraduate) to join us for a residency in February 2025. The successful applicant will be given access to the workshop including a personal bench, accommodation onsite and a weekly stipend of £350. During their time with us, the visiting resident will also be joining the community of emerging silversmiths who are supported by The Marchmont Silversmithing workshop as well as other makers and creators on-site and will also be offered mentorship from Creative Director Dr James Fox.
