A jewellery designer has created a very special 'Mummy’s Star' pendant in memory of her late sister-in-law, who passed away with stage 4 breast cancer in April this year. The National Association of Jewellers has today published guidance to help jewellery stores across the UK and Ireland make preparations for when ‘lockdown’ is lifted. The guidance which is presented as ‘non-exhaustive’ is the first of a number of versions the trade body will be making over the coming weeks. Broken down into 4 key areas of start safe, store safe, task safe and home safe, the Association stipulates that the ‘safety and wellbeing of all staff and customers is number one priority, and therefore it is important that virus control restrictions continue to limit transmission’. Orkney jewellery designer Zoe Davidson has been raising funds to help with the refurbishment of an island lifeboat museum through sales of a limited-edition collection of her work. Stromness-based Zoe created the special silver Longhope collection after learning that the Longhope Lifeboat Museum , on the Orkney island of Hoy, was launching a fundraising drive. The museum – housed in a former lifeboat shed - was created in 2000 to highlight the bravery of Longhope RNLI lifeboat volunteers over the decades, displaying many important artefacts and records.
