K2 Presents: ‘Making Connections’ Lecture by Corinne Julius

K2 Academy of Contemporary Jewellery

Education Space at Cockpit, Holborn

Monday, 7th March 2022, 6pm - 8pm

No matter how creative a jeweller you are, no matter how exciting your designs, unless you can reach your market, that jewellery will not be in conversation with wearers and observers. It’s never easy to sell your own work, which to some degree means selling yourself. Covid and lockdown has made that harder and for many face to face communication has become unbearably difficult.

To help, the journalist, critic and curator Corinne Julius will discuss networking, how to talk to the press and how to seem confident even when you’re not.

Corinne Julius contributes on contemporary craft and design to Woman’s Hour, Front Row, the Evening Standard’s Homes & Property, Crafts and Country Life. Corinne trained at the Royal College of Art and Sheffield University and was made an Honorary Fellow of the Royal College of Art in 2008 for services to design and craft.

She is a guest lecturer at a number of arts universities including the Royal College of Art, Central St Martin’s and on the Sotheby’s MA in Decorative Arts. She works closely with makers and designers, both in formal situations and in a mentoring role.

She is a judge for many applied arts and design awards, but also curates. Her shows include Silver Speaks: Idea to Object a show of Contemporary British Silver at the V&A Bloomin’ Jewels, a contemporary jewellery show at CAA and is the founder-curator of one of the country’s major contemporary craft shows, Future Heritage at Decorex, now in its 8th year.
