After deliberations in New York, the Craft Prize jury has selected Metanoia by Eriko Inazaki as the winner of this year's prize. Inazaki’s intricate ceramic sculpture was created through an accumulation of miniscule forms that coalesce across the work’s crystallised surface. The jury commented on Inazaki’s exceptional take on ornamentation in ceramics, the like of which they have never seen before. New building for University’s School of Jewellery

Birmingham City University’s School of Jewellery is set to expand, following a new building acquisition in the city’s St Paul’s Square. Previously home to Abbey College, the School will take on 10 St Paul’s Square in April, opening in September 2019 as a new postgraduate jewellery design and research facility with new design studios and offices for staff and doctoral researchers. Inhorgenta Munich Reports 4% Growth for 2018 Show

Inhorgenta Munich has reported strong growth figures for its 2018 show, which took place between 16 to 19 February. The event organiser reported that some 27,000 trade visitors from over 70 countries visited the German based trade show. According to Inhorgenta 1026 exhibitors from 42 countries participated in the international focused trade show over the six exhibition halls covering a total space of 65,000 square meters. ‘Masterpiece’ Stolen From Master Silversmith

Wayne Meeten has described himself as “totally devastated” at the loss of his prize winning Mokume Gane silverware piece. The piece, a solid silver truffles container, was stolen from his workshop and was stored in a 9” wooden box at the time. Last weekend, following a successful weekend-long Open Studios event at Cockpit Arts, Holborn, London, a jewellery workshop was targeted and broken into in the early hours of Sunday night /Monday morning and the occupants’ entire stock was stolen. Guðbjörg Kristín Ingvarsdóttir is a goldsmith, Jewellery designer and co-founder of the award-winning sustainable jewellery brand Aurum, Iceland's leading jewellery brand.
