Tutor's Day & Industry Liasion

Wednesday, 1sy July 2026

Benchpeg is partnering with New Designers to bring together nationally based educators and industry (businesses, manufacturers and employers) to provide an opportunity for discourse on relevancy of education and skills training to employment and business within our sector.

The Day

The ‘Tutors Day’ is aimed at bringing jewellery, silversmithing and allied trades educators and trainers together to provide a space to network and convene enabling discussions around current challenges and working practices. We have educators from across the UK, Scotland, Ireland and Wales attending.

The Programme

We’ve put a programme for the day together, which will also include the opportunity to meet with businesses and employers in order to facilitate industry liaison.

Katy Tromans and Andy Howard from the School of Jewellery’s HND and Design for Industry degree course will be presenting with Paul Savage from Cartier on how they work together to create a continuous improvement cycle for the course modules and relevancy for industry employment.

We will also have a panel discussion chaired by Nicky Dewar, Director of Programmes at the Crafts Council with the panel including Sally Leonard, Business Consultant, Creative Industries at Centa; Angela Cork, Principal, Bishopsland Educational Trust; and Peter Crump, Managing Director, Vipa Designs in relation to skills relevancy and an ever changing educational landscape.

Assay Office London sponsor Networking Reception

This will be followed by a catered drinks reception sponsored very generously by the London Assay Office, which will naturally evolve into the main New Designers Awards evening and reception.
