Corrugation & Microfolding with Jill Leventon

10am - 4pm, Saturday, 8 October 2022

Central Scotland School of Jewellery

Dunblane, Scotland

Join Silversmith Jill Leventon for a day of structural and textural metalworking. By adding small undulations or corrugations to our metal we will add strength and texture to thin sheets of metal, allow us to work in a sculptural yet economic way. Using simple hand tools and a corrugating roller add pleats, folds, and smocking to your designs, or create lightweight hollow bead forms.

For makers who are exploring more environmentally sustainable skills this workshop is perfect. Larger, sculptural pieces can be created using significantly less metal which is less impactful to the world around us. Thicknesses and types of metal will be discussed, and participants will experiment with the different effects and shapes they can get by manipulating the patterns with their fingers and with pliers. We will combine the use of press forming, the rolling mill and fold forming with the corrugation.

Suitable for both beginners and advanced jewellers looking to add new skills to their repertoire.
