Born in Malmö, Sweden, Philipp joined the family company Skandinaviska Etuifabriken in 1958 after completing national service. In 1960 he met Judith (Judie), proposed within days of knowing each other, and they married that same year. Need for flexible working may underpin gender pay gap

A desire for flexible working arrangements and a reluctance to relocate for more senior roles were the reasons behind a gender pay gap in the jewellery retail industry that was higher than the national average, research has shown.
