London Diamond Bourse Members Vote for Future

The London Diamond Bourse held an Extraordinary General Meeting in the first week of November where the future of the organisation was discussed openly with members present. LVMH confirms it has submitted Tiffany transaction for approval by the European Commission

In a flurry of press releases this week LVHM have stood firm with their position in the failed acquisition of Tiffany which have led to legal action by the American jeweller which have filed a suit in the American state of Deleware. “LVMH confirmed on the 18 September that immediately after receiving approval to proceed by the European Commission, it has submitted the proposed acquisition of Tiffany for antitrust review, as it has always stated it would do. Goldsmiths' Centre Precious Metal Grant Winners Announced

The Goldsmiths’ Centre’s Precious Metal Grant is an annual competition which provides 750 of precious metal bullion to a select group of Jewellery and Silversmithing students across the UK, providing the opportunity to translate their designs into precious metal.  This week, The Goldsmiths’ Centre announced the eleven winners of its prestigious Goldsmiths’ Precious Metal Grant competition. BCU Design students showcase bespoke ensembles at opera event

Students from Birmingham City University (BCU)’s Institute of Jewellery, Fashion and Textiles showcased their costume and jewellery design skills at a special Voice of Black Opera (VOBO) event last week, creating bespoke ensembles worn by the project’s finalists. Craft Central, formerly known as the Clerkenwell Green Association announced this week that very sadly it has no choice but to wind up its operations and close the 54 year old charity. With its origins and former home at Pennybank Chambers, Clerkenwell, the organisation was spread across two buildings close to Farringdon and home to an array of designer makers, crafts people and allied trades. Dutch Silver Miniature Collection Proves Popular at Auction

Olympia Auctions is thrilled with the result achieved this week for a highly unusual private collection of Dutch solid silver miniature household objects. The silver pieces, which were down-sized versions of the real thing, proved very popular with buyers far and wide, with bidding on the internet and the telephones.
