Effective immediately, GIA (Gemological Institute of America) will suspend diamond sealing services. The Institute is taking this action after recently encountering a small number of GIA sealing packets that had been compromised by third parties after the sealing packets left GIA.  In these instances, GIA determined that the diamonds originally enclosed in the compromised packets had been replaced with HPHT (high-pressure, high-temperature) treated natural diamonds. The substitute treated diamonds superficially matched the GIA report information for the original diamonds, including information on the sealing packet data label. The London Diamond Bourse held an Extraordinary General Meeting in the first week of November where the future of the organisation was discussed openly with members present. London Diamond Bourse, the only diamond specific trade association and physical diamond trading floor in the UK, has today announced changes to the composition of its Council of Management. “These are the most fundamental changes to LDB’s governance in my six years at LDB,” said COO, Victoria McKay. The Antwerp World Diamond Centre have reported on an update on the Grandfathering Principle that was announced in mid-July as part of G7’s 14th sanction package against Russia, enabling diamond companies to regularise their ‘existing stock’. Specifically, it concerns stock of non-industrial, natural and synthetic, rough and polished diamonds of Russian or unknown origin, which were in a company's possession before the sanctions measures against Russia came into force, i.e., before 1 st  January 2024. The Antwerp World Diamond Centre has today announced that it has made the decision to postpone all of its planned events due to the c oronavirus  outbreak. It issued a statement saying: "Due to the recent developments regarding the Cornonavirus and the advice given by the local and federal governments, AWDC has decided to postpone all planned seminars, AWDC Cafes, events, etc., at least for the coming month. Gordon Marks the retail jeweller, has today revealed that they have been contacted by the police due to a customer falling prey to a vicious scam. A Gordon Marks representative said, "Unfortunately a lady was scammed yesterday by being sent in to our jewellers to purchase a diamond ring by people pretending to be police. Dimexon Transitions To Solar Power At Coimbatore Factory

Diamond manufacturer Dimexon has transitioned to solar power at its manufacturing site in Coimbatore, southern India, reducing its reliance on the national grid by 75%. This will equate to an annual saving of ~1,400 tCO2e, which is equivalent of taking 333 cars off the road for a year. The solar power project is part of Dimexon’s wider ESG commitments, which include its pledge to be carbon neutral by 2030. The Coimbatore site is responsible for 85% of the global company’s total carbon emissions. To further reduce its emissions at Coimbatore, Dimexon swapped out diesel vehicles for electric vehicles in 2023.
