OROAREZZO 2019 6 - 9 April 2019 Everything is ready for the next edition of OROAREZZO, the event that promotes the best Italian goldsmithing production internationally, which this year reaches the important milestone of the 40 anniversary. The quintessential appointment of the Made in Italy goldsmithing sector, managed by Italian Exhibition Group and scheduled from April 6 to 9 at Arezzo Fiere e Congressi, brings together some of the best Italian manufacturing companies through exhibitions dedicated to jewelry, silverware, semi-finished products and stones. Innovation, stylistic and technological research; state-of-the-art products that, according to tradition, follow the rules of industrial production.
Bounded + Unlimited Contemporary Jewellery
Bounded + Unlimited Contemporary Jewellery Bounded + Unlimited is an exhibition of exceptional precious jewellery and goldsmithing by four contemporary jewellery artists from Ireland and China. The exhibition explores the parallel working practices of these jewellery artists across design, techniques and materials, from the perspective of differing cultural contexts. The title refers to how the artists are bounded by their respective personal and national cultural experiences, yet unlimited in opportunities for communication and understanding through the traditions of their craft. Q&A: Guðbjörg Kristín Ingvarsdóttir
Guðbjörg Kristín Ingvarsdóttir is a goldsmith, Jewellery designer and co-founder of the award-winning sustainable jewellery brand Aurum, Iceland's leading jewellery brand. Guðbjörg began her career studying goldsmithing at Copenhagen Technical College, completing her journeyman’s examination in 1993. She completed her master craftsman examination in goldsmithing at Reykjavík Technical College in 1994, subsequently returning to Copenhagen to study jewellery design at the Institute for Precious Metals. Guðbjörg collaboratively ran the jewellery workshop Au-Art in Copenhagen from 1996 to 1999, before returning to Iceland where she founded the design and jewellery firm Aurum. Guðbjörg’s jewellery designs have attracted much attention worldwide and
Donald Friedlich: The Glass Alchemist
Donald Friedlich can be called a glass alchemist. Fascinated by its chemical, material and aesthetic properties, he has dedicated the last twenty years of his artistic research to the discovery and exploration of this material, so elusive and challenging writes Ilaria Ruggiero.
