Opals given the spotlight at IJL by Prism Design

Prism Design has announced the launch of a range of exciting new boulder opal designs for Milburn & Ley. The boulder opals were mined by the company’s partners, Barbara and Edi of  The Opal Cutter , Barbara has been mining since 1984 in Coober Pedy and more recently Koroit. The close partnership means that Prism knows exactly where the opals have been sourced and that they have been responsibly mined. Susan Blackler Wins 2016 Gem Empathy Award

Gem-A have announced that Susan Blackler, of Sonkai Ltd., is the winner of Gem-A's newly-revamped Gem Empathy Award 2016, with her design titled ‘Supernova’. In previous years the award has been presented to the IJL exhibitor displaying, in the opinion of the judges, a single piece or collection of jewellery that makes captivating use of one or more gemstones. This year, however, Gem-A has remodelled the creative initiative, requesting that designers featured in the Design Gallery at IJL, produce a design based around a breathtaking 10.46ct Fantasy Cut heliodor (also known as golden beryl), sourced from award-winning gem cutter JohnDyer.  

F. Hinds' New Harlow Store's Romantic Opening

The moment the shutters rolled open a few days ahead of schedule on F. Hinds’ new Harvey Centre store in Harlow, the first customer Mark Rapley arrived, keen on selecting an engagement ring. He had spotted the perfect ring within the new store’s extensive diamond-filled windows and just knew it was right.  That same afternoon he proposed and Alyson Meek accepted – and so Mark and Alyson helped celebrate the official opening of F.
