Two stunning Cartier brooches specially-commissioned and designed for Lady Courtauld (1883-1973) and presented to her by her husband, Sir Stephen Courtauld (1883-1967), a member of the famous Courtauld textile family and younger brother of the founder of the Courtauld Institute of Art, are to head to auction at Dreweatts next month. The couple were known for their philanthropic endeavours and adventurous spirits, as well as their contributions to cultural and education causes, and their donations to organisations promoting racial equality. Internationally renowned silversmith Wayne Meeten picked up another gong at the #JewelleryOscars, the Goldsmiths’ Craft and Design Awards, this month.
