About Sarabande

Sarabande was established by the late Lee Alexander McQueen to create opportunities for artists and designers who are creatively fearless.

The main support strands are scholarships for seven Universities across the UK and subsidised studios for artists and designers who are based in our converted Victorian stables on Regent's Canal in East London.

You heard it- it's an extension!

We have had an overload of studio applications and because we at Sarabande believe that everyone deserves a chance, an extension only seemed fit. And if you forgot what being a Sarabande artist entails, here's a recap.

Sarabande houses the most affordable artist studios in London which are accessible 24 hours a day. These studios are the heart of the foundation where artists can share a communal space and exchange ideas with one another. Costing one-third of the local average, studio residents are guaranteed the necessary focus to expand their business to create a sustainable model for growth. In addition to the subsidised rent, residents have access to bespoke business mentoring, pro bono support from expert accountants and lawyers, networking and discounted tickets to our wide range of educational events, as well as support on press and marketing strategies, professional filming and documentation, use of the exhibition space, support to realise an ambitious project and inclusion in the wide range of global creative activities led by the foundation such as retail events and exhibitions. Whew, that was a mouthful.

“Sarabande is unique as a hub of creativity and an incubator of young talent...In only a few years, it has established itself as one of the most important and exciting community of artists in Britain.”
- Andrew Bolton, Head Curator of the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute

Artists, fashion designers, jewellers, silversmiths, craftsman, photographers, filmmakers, sculptors...this is your chance! If you have a one-of-a-kind vision and unmatchable creations, get applying!
