Town Centre Artist Commission, HOME Slough

HOME Slough wants to animate the town centre with one or more artist commissions that will connect and express Slough’s people and inspire a sense of pride in the town. The outcome may be a permanent, semi-permanent or temporary artwork/installation/event.

The commission will engage with the town centre environment and test its potential as a destination for arts and culture activity. It will involve local people in its creative development and reach new audiences for the arts. It will encourage local thinking on the future on the town centre environment at a time of regeneration and change in Slough.

Budget

HOME Slough has up to £18,000 available for this commission.
Applicants can propose a project for all or part of this sum.
Proposals should include all costs: artist and project management fees, materials, hire of equipment, insurance, installation and VAT.

Time Frame

The project should be delivered between October and December 2017

Selection Criteria

Applicants for HOME Slough artist commissions can be either individual artists or arts organisations who can meet the following eligibility criteria:

Track record of working in collaboration with local communities on arts projects, knowledge of co-creation processes and a demonstrable commitment to artist led community engagement.
Experience of successfully managing high quality, participatory projects in the public realm with evidence of managing projects to time and budget
A demonstrable understanding of the issues around barriers to participation in the arts.
Successful track record of delivering artistically excellent large scale participation projects and managing complex partnerships and multiple stakeholders.
Demonstrable knowledge and expertise in tackling production and engagement challenges associated with working in public realm/non-traditional arts spaces.

Application Deadline

Proposals should be submitted by 5:00pm, 15 June 2017.

Submissions

Your project must be summarised on two sides of A4 and indicate how it will address HOME aims. Please include relevant appendices and links containing images, drawings, etc.
