The prestigious Goldsmiths’ Craft & Design Council (GC&DC) 2027 competition is now open for entries.

The annual competition rewards excellence in technical skills and creative design in precious metals and related materials.

The competition is free to enter, and open to all in the jewellery, silversmithing and allied trades, including craftpersons and designers, as well as apprentices, students and hobbyists.

For 2027, the awards comprise 40 competition categories across 2D design and 3D craft and design, seven special awards, four bursaries, three Major Awards and four Premier Awards, as well as the prestigious College Trophy, totalling 59 Awards. This year’s competition has been generously supported by 63 sponsors and patrons.

Judith Lockwood Chair of GC&DC, said: “The GC&DC Awards have always been about recognising and encouraging the remarkable skill, imagination and dedication that sit at the heart of our industry. That feels particularly significant in 2027, as the Goldsmiths’ Company celebrates its 700th anniversary and we reflect on both the extraordinary heritage of our craft and the talent that will shape its future.

“The Awards bring together traditional craftsmanship and contemporary thinking, showcasing the breadth of expertise across jewellery, goldsmithing, silversmithing and the allied crafts. We want entrants at every stage of their careers to see the competition as an opportunity to challenge themselves, explore new ideas and have their work recognised by their peers. I am very much looking forward to seeing the creativity, technical excellence and ambition reflected in this year’s entries.”

Visit the GC&DC Website to view all of the briefs and for further details on how to enter.

The closing date for online entries is midnight on 10 January 2027.

The Awards ceremony this year will be held on Monday 8 March at the Goldsmiths’ Hall in London.

Ends.

About The GC&DC

The Goldsmiths’ Craft and Design Council is a non-profit making organisation founded over one hundred years ago in 1908. Today, the Council continues its work from its original remit: “to encourage, stimulate and promote the pursuit of excellence in craftsmanship and design

amongst all those in the United Kingdom who work within silversmithing, goldsmithing, jewellery and the allied crafts.”

The central aim of the Goldsmiths’ Craft & Design Council is to promote excellence in the industry through its prestigious annual awards. The Council’s members, elected volunteers, give their time in organising and managing the annual competition, awards ceremony and subsequent exhibitions of winners’ work.
