There is an exciting opportunity for four artists, designers or craftsmen aged 18 or over to work in the Leckford Art Studio on the top floor at Rum's Eg, Hampshire for part or all of August 2017.

Rum’s Eg is a contemporary gallery and arts space run by Hampshire Art & Craft CIC (Community Interest Company) which has over the last four years become a renowned centre of excellence for Art & Craft in the South of England.

It was set up in 2012 as an accessible, affordable Art and Craft Gallery and creative hub, with a café, to support Artists and Craftsmen working or living within 70 miles of Romsey and to engage the public and local community in the creative arts.

These Residencies are offered to give emerging artists a space to work, make new connections and develop their professional practice. The spaces are offered free of charge but the selected artists will be required to give at least one day (per number of weeks residency) as a volunteer to support the organisation - there are various different ways to work with us which we can discuss. You must also be happy to chat to customers who may be interested in your work.

How to Apply

Preference will be given to emerging or re-emerging Artists or recent graduates.

Applicants should complete the application form available in the gallery or download Artist Contact form and return it with a selection of images of their work by Friday 16th June 2017.

Forms and images should be addressed to Siriol Sherlock and emailed to curation@hampshireartandcraftorg with the email subject ‘Summer Residency’

A hard copy of the application should also be sent to Siriol Sherlock, 27 Bell Street, Romsey, SO51 8GY, and clearly marked ‘Summer Residency’ on the envelope.

A shortlist of applicants will be drawn up to be called for interview during the first week of July.

Residencies will be offered for two, three or four weeks at the discretion of the curator.

Any work sold during the residency or commissions taken will be subject to normal gallery commission charges according to our Exhibitors Information & Terms
