Seal Engraving Competition 2024 -
Sigillum Seals and the Hand Engravers Association
There is only one month to enter the Hand Engravers Association's brand new competition for hand engravers which they are running with the support of their Project Patron, Andrew Morris of Sigillum Seals.
Prize
Students, trainees, enthusiasts or professionals with some experience of engraving on metal will be invited to enter their own design for a desk seal and be in with a chance of winning a unique prize – five days in the engraving workshops at Rebus in London, learning from master seal engravers how to cut their design.
A travel bursary is included to encourage entrants from any part of Britain.
How to Enter
- Entrants are asked to submit an original design for a desk seal and photos of samples they have engraved.
- The judges do not expect entrants to have any seal engraving experience but will be looking for some experience in engraving on metal and drawing skills.
- The design should be based on a modern take on a traditional armorial seal, with a springtime theme.
Judging
- Entries will be judged by representatives from:
- Sigillum Seals,
- Rebus,
- the Hand Engravers Association and
- special guest judge, award winning engraver Castro Smith.
