Location: Bovey Tracey, Devon

Working hours: 3 Days, 9.30am to 5pm, with potential to increase.

Fixed term contract: 12 months, with potential to become permanent

Salary: £28,000 pro rata

About us

Craft Festival is one of the UK’s leading not-for-profit craft event organisations with a heritage of over 19 years. We host Craft Festival, a multi-award-winning live event programme, currently in Devon and Gloucestershire. We also run Find a Maker, an online portal, community and business school, host a popular podcast The Capital of Craft and business startup courses. We champion the finest designer makers and provide a retail and educational platform to showcase the best in British craft to both consumers and the maker business community.

Purpose of Role

To develop the Find a Maker platform and provide marketing support across a variety of Craft Festival projects.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day operations of the Find a Maker online community to support and grow its membership. Develop and maintain the website using a simple content management system (CMS), member communications and subscriptions.
  • Schedule and manage the Festival’s social media accounts on Facebook and Instagram, to creatively drive engagement, ticket sales and membership. Keep abreast and capitalise upon new social media opportunities.
  • Provide friendly and efficient customer service to Find a Maker members resolving queries by phone, email and via social media. Provide hosting and organisational support at live events.
  • Work with the Festival team to implement wide ranging marketing plans.
  • Manage the membership and consumer database to ensure accuracy and adherence to best practice, enabling effective e-mail marketing.
  • Develop content ideas, copy and creative for e-mail newsletters, using Mailchimp. Monitor performance and propose ideas to improve open rates, engagement, ticket sales and membership subscriptions.
  • Develop creative content for email and socials using Canva following brand guidelines. Record and edit online events to create video content for our You Tube Business School Channel.
  • Work with the Festival team to develop and implement PR ideas to promote Find a Maker members in the media.
  • Implement market research projects as required using digital survey tools.
  • Develop relationships with partner organisations to collaborate with Find a Maker members.

Skills and Experience

  • Experienced marketing assistant/co-ordinator, preferably with an interest in crafts, the arts, design and events.
  • You’ll be someone who enjoys collaborating with a small, busy team, communicating effectively, and dealing with people and businesses over the phone, by email and face to face.
  • You Live and Breathe Social Media
  • The ability to manage multiple projects, you’ll be highly organised, efficient, with great attention to detail.
  • You will have strong IT skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook and experience of using website content management systems, Mailchimp, Canva, Meta Business Suite and simple video editing software.
  • Combining administration work to ensure effective operations, with more creative marketing projects.
  • Excellent copywriting and proof-reading skills. Ability to set and work to targets and deadlines. Flexibility to work across multiple projects. A people person who loves working with a team with the tenacity to work independently.
  • You’ll be comfortable working occasional weekends and travel away from home to support events a few times a year, with time off in lieu.

28 days holiday per annum including Bank Holidays (pro rata) with time off in lieu for events. Company Pension.

The role is primarily an onsite role at our Festival office in Bovey Tracey,Devon. Flexible working hours available, Monday to Thursday.
