Lead Maker, International Centre For Life

Life has an exciting vacancy for a creative and highly-motivated individual to lead development in Life’s Making Studios. As someone with a passion for learning, making and tinkering you will lead Life’s Making Studios, developing and facilitating imaginative and innovative making activities for science centre visitors and school groups. Through the programme will engage and inspire our visitors to create, developing their skills and opportunities.

The ideal candidate will be confident, approachable and reliable, with excellent communication and organisational skills. You will have relevant experience in a hands-on making, education or science engagement and preferably have a degree in a STEM/creative subject (or equivalent qualification). You will have proven experience of bringing the philosophy of making and tinkering to a wider audience and be skilled in crafting prototypes from different materials both physically and digitally. You will be adaptable and able to communicate to a range of audiences in person and online.

Duties will also include supervising the day-to-day running, cleanliness and good order of the Making Studios, including materials and equipment.

Applicants must be able to work flexible hours as the science centre is open 7 days a week and it is essential the Making Studios are managed during peak times, weekends and occasional evening events. In the context of the current pandemic, initial work may be remote until the centre is fully operational.
