The Goldsmiths’ Centre is inviting applications for its free one-week online business course, and is running two free information sessions for anyone thinking of applying.
Getting Started Online is an intensive introduction to running a jewellery or silversmithing business. Delivered through live webinars from Monday 1 to Friday 5 March 2027, it will support more than 100 participants with practical business skills and insights from industry experts.
Topics include:
- Starting and running a creative business
- Developing products
- Branding and selling your work
- Finding new sales channels
- Taking the next steps towards growth
The course also connects participants with peers across the industry and opens the door to further support from the Goldsmiths’ Centre. This includes Spotlighting Getting Started, a follow-on business training programme with opportunities to exhibit work and build a professional profile.
The Goldsmiths’ Centre’s Getting Started programme has supported jewellers and silversmiths in building their businesses since 1981.
Free information sessions
Two live online Q&A sessions will give prospective applicants the chance to find out more before they apply. Former participants Misha McLean, a jeweller, and Morvarid Alavifard, a multi-disciplinary artist and silversmith, will share their experiences of the course, and the Goldsmiths’ Centre team will answer questions about eligibility, the application process and how to make a strong application.
