Garden Installation, Sudbury Hall and The National Trust Museum of Childhood
Brief: Creative Installation for the garden at Sudbury Hall and The National Trust Museum of Childhood, The Children’s Country House
What is The Children’s Country House?
Sudbury Hall and The National Trust Museum of Childhood is undergoing a transformation into The Children’s Country House. A space with three components: a 17th century mansion, a Museum of Childhood and gardens are being united as an immersive heritage experience where children are put first. The Children’s Country House is about creating a place where children feel empowered, important, engaged and that they matter.
What do we want?
We want to commission an artist/s to create an installation within the quincunx. We have £6,000 to create and install this piece. The installation should:
-
Be created for children, young people and families
-
Encourage exploration, discovery and play
-
Withstand the outdoor elements and changing seasons
-
Be safe to handle, touch and interact with, yet robust enough to endure handling
-
Be informed by our Children’s Country House Ambassadors
-
Not be detrimental to the health of the tree(s) or their surroundings (no permanent fixings or excavations)
The £6,000 is inclusive of all materials, installation and development time.
The installation will need to be installed by Monday 1st June 2021.
How to apply?
More information, an Expression of Interest Form and a slide deck that outlines the Children’s Country House vision is available. It also includes an inspiration board that has been created by the Sudbury team. This can be requested by emailing jodie.lees@nationaltrust.org.uk
The Expression of Interest Form should be returned to jodie.lees@nationaltrust.org.uk by 5pm on Monday 1st February 2021.
