Call for Applications: Design in Silver Award 2021

Contemporary British Silversmiths have been fortunate enough to offer an annual ‘Design in Silver Award’ to silversmithing graduates for many years.  This is thanks to a very generous and long standing patron who is keen to support graduates on their journey of progressing their career in contemporary silversmithing.

The prize comprises up to £1,000 which is to be spent on a specialist course offered by one of our senior members and three years free graduate membership.  The money can be used towards the course, materials, travel and accommodation as required.

Previous winners have been lucky enough to study with the likes of Ndidi Ekubia, Malcolm Appleby and Rebecca de Quin.

The prize is open to all of this years’ silversmithing graduates who have studied in the UK.  We would normally make our selection at New Designers or End of Year Shows, but this year we are asking applicants to submit up to five images of their final silversmithing work to us by 10am on 15 July 2021.

The winner will be judged on innovation, design, craftsmanship and future potential.

Applications to be submitted via JotForm, link below:

Terms and Conditions:  Open to 2021 graduates who have studied on a degree course in the UK.  Images must be of silverware items which have been designed and made by the applicant. Images of items of jewellery will be excluded.

Closing date 10am on 15th July 2021.

The winner will be announced after 15th July 2021.  All applicants will be contacted by Contemporary British Silversmiths by email or telephone. The winner will be asked to write a report once the course has been completed, which may be published in our newsletter.
