'Curated Courtyard' Commission

Supported by Arts Council England, Tunbridge Wells Borough Council and Kent County Council invite artists to submit ambitious and exciting proposals to create one or more of seven large-scale artworks in response to the launch of their major capital commissioning programme for The Amelia Scott Building.

Each artwork will become part of the fabric of the new and redeveloped buildings that comprise The Amelia Scott in Royal Tunbridge Wells, Kent. Funded using generous grants from the National Lottery Heritage Fund and Arts Council England, The Amelia Scott will house a unified service which brings together cultural, educational and information services in one conserved and modernised set of buildings.

The Amelia Scott invites proposals from artists, designers, and creative practitioners for the design of a ‘Curated Courtyard’ to be situated in the centre (external) space of this project, due to reopen in spring 2022. This mixed use ‘living gallery’ will be a natural gathering point for all services and programming within the building, naturally celebrating Tunbridge Wells and the High Weald’s location within the Garden of England.

There is a total project budget of £21,500 to cover fee, production, construction, delivery and installation.
