The Shakti Design Residency is a first-of-its-kind, month-long programme that takes place in India from 1 to 30 November 2025. Residents are each paired with Indian ateliers to create collaborative new work. From a worldwide open call, five designers are selected - and later mentored - by an international jury of leading designers, curators, educators, gallerists and entrepreneurs.

Now in its second year, the programme welcomes submissions from global designers who are actively engaged with material exploration and sustainable practices and demonstrate a keen interest in exploring the relationship between heritage crafts and contemporary design.

Residency Details
Selected residents will be paired with an Indian atelier of the programme’s choice
Travel to and from India, accommodation and basic per diems will be covered by the programme

Selected residents will receive an honorarium of $1,500

Participants are expected to engage fully in the residency, attend scheduled activities and respect the collaborative ethos of the programme
