Goldsmiths Craft & Design Council Awards 2018
Fairtrade Jewellery Design category sponsored by Ingle & Rhode
Submissions are now open for the Fairtrade Jewellery Design category of the Goldsmiths Craft & Design Council Awards 2018, sponsored by Ingle & Rhode.
The 2018 awards include a new Fairtrade category for ethical jewellery designers. Entrants are asked to design a fine jewellery ring, pendant or pair of earrings that are sympathetic, symbolic and supportive to the natural world and global preservation issues.
About the Submission
The design should be a one-off exclusive jewel, cast and hand finished in 9ct, 14ct or 18ct Fairtrade gold (white, yellow or rose, or in combinations) to a maximum of 15gms (finished weight), and incorporating up to a total of 0.3ct of round brilliant cut white diamonds (to be no smaller than 0.8mm diameter/approximately 0.003ct).
Supported by Ingle & Rhode, the award seeks to identify and reward creative design for ethical fine jewellery. The winning entrant, (who retains copyright on their design), will have the opportunity to liaise with Ingle & Rhode and oversee the production of their design, exclusively using ethically sourced precious metals and gems. The finished jewel will be donated to the Fairtrade Foundation and the winner of this special award will receive a cash prize.
