Call for Applications: Atelier Open 2025

We’re again throwing open the doors to the artists of Brighton and beyond for our fourth ATELIER OPEN – an exhibition that is open to anyone over the age of 16 to apply, and open to (almost) any subject and method. The Atelier Open is brought to you by Tutton & Young who have more than 20 years experience organising some of the best Art and Craft events in the country, including MADE London, Brighton Art Fair and MADE Brighton.
Applications are now open to exhibit at this popular summer show, which is open daily over the busiest eight weeks of the year on Brighton Seafront. Both our galleries will be brimming full of artworks of all kinds with a huge variety of subjects and media. Last year we exhibited 250 artworks by 130 artists.

We are an arts venue on Brighton Seafront – we opened in the middle of the pandemic in June 2021! As well as a Gallery and a shop specialising in the best in contemporary art, design and craft, we offer a wide range of creative activities to inspire and surprise our local community and visitors to our city.
POSITION
Atelier Beside the Sea has a prominent position on Brighton Beach, more or less straight down from the station. Thousands of visitors to the city make their way to the Seafront, passing by the venue and stopping to browse and buy.
GALLERY
The gallery is a space for surprising, fresh and original contemporary art, craft and design. Situated in Brighton’s iconic seafront fishing arches, we offer a varied programme of exhibitions and events throughout the year.
SHOP
The shop specialises in beautiful and practical handmade work and highlights the individual makers and their processes. We offer a carefully curated selection of ceramics, textiles, jewellery, print, painting and sculpture from outstanding artists, craftspeople and designers, from Sussex, and across the world.
MAKE
Our teaching and community programme creates and runs varied classes for all levels.
HIRE
The arches are available to hire for community events and local artists and makers, corporate meetings, events and product launches. We have three separate arches that can be hired together or individually.
