The New York and Istanbul jewellery house known for hand-hammered pure gold has published its gift guide for the festive season, with pieces chosen for four different personalities.

GURHAN’s Holiday Gift Guide groups the brand’s jewellery into four edits: For the Bold, For the Romantic, For the Maximalist and For the Minimalist. Across all four, the guide features sculptural gold, unexpected gemstones and pieces with plenty of character.

The brand was founded by Turkish designer Gurhan Orhan, who launched his first collection in 1994 from a small shop in Bodrum, Turkey, before establishing a second base in New York City by 1997. Its pieces are hand-hammered in 24k gold using tools reminiscent of the Anatolian and Byzantine eras, and the workshop is in Istanbul, where the craftsmen are hand-picked and personally trained by Gurhan Orhan. In an interview with The Jewellery Editor, he explained that the brand prefers to hire goldsmiths with little or no jewellery experience and train them in its own methods, based on the artistry of ancient goldsmiths.
