Jewellers, traders and collectors in the UAE and the wider Gulf region can now submit gemstones, pearls and diamonds to the Swiss laboratory without sending them abroad themselves.
Gübelin Gem Lab, the gemmological laboratory founded in Lucerne in 1923, opened a Take-In Window in Dubai on 27 October 2026. It sits within the DMCC Luxury Innovation Centre (DLIC), on the 48th floor of Almas Tower in Jumeirah Lakes Towers.
The Take-In Window is a local drop-off point for the laboratory’s testing and origin-determination services. Stones are received in Dubai, transported securely to Switzerland for analysis, and returned with their Gübelin reports. HUXE Group is the logistics partner and handles the insured transport between the two cities.
Dr Daniel Nyfeler, Managing Director of Gübelin Gem Lab, attended the opening with representatives of DMCC, the DLIC, ORIGINALLUXURY and HUXE Group.
“Dubai has become one of the world’s most important crossroads for fine gemstones and pearls,” said Dr Nyfeler. “Our clients here deserve the same confidence they would have walking into our laboratory in Lucerne.”
Hans Schwab, Co-Founder of ORIGINALLUXURY, which operates the DLIC, described the opening as a milestone for the centre, giving the trade in the region direct access to Swiss gemmological expertise.
Gübelin Gem Lab is an independent subsidiary of the Gübelin Group and is known worldwide for the identification and origin determination of coloured gemstones. It also analyses pearls and diamonds.
The Take-In Window is open by appointment only. To book, contact Stephanie Pippen at stephanie@originall.com or on +971 50 814 9650.
