Arabel Lebrusan does not take a gentle approach when it comes to ethical and environmental issue. Her eponymous brand, Lebrusan studio, is well known for its commitement to sustainability, which informs every new collection and initiative.

Lebrusan declares "We're in a state of climate emergency . . . Gobal warming has reached crisis point. No matter how fairly traded or carefully sourced, newly mined materials use up valuable resources. It's vital that we slow down the rate at which we're currently consuming water, land and energy."

Alongside their existing offer of 100% recycled precious metals, Lebrusan Studio are now incorporating recycled diamonds accross its collections. As well as low environmental impact, the use of vintage diamonds, dating back over two decades, are appealing due to their unique charm. Lebrusan explains

"The recycled diamonds we offer are either early modern brilliant cut or transitional cut. These antique cuts of diamond boast a depth of sparkle that cannot be matched by the surface sparkle of a modern cut diamond; they draw the eye inward. Because most antique diamonds are cut by hand, they possess an individuality and character that can’t be emulated. Each reclaimed stone is unique and full of personality; and we love them for that."

The new recycled diamonds will sit alongside Lebrusan Studio's current Conflict-Free Diamonds, creating options for people both interested in prioritising environmental imapact, and those who prioritise traceablity.

“We’re forever proud of our alliances with Fairtrade and Fairmined and will never stop supporting small-scale miners, who still need an income, but it’s time to start striking a balance,” Lebrusan says.

Lebrusan Studio has landed a place on the shortlist for the National Association of Jewellers’ Corporate Social Responsibility Initiative of the Year Award; an impressive and very well-deserved recognition of the brand’s ethos and efforts.

Lebrusan Studio is also in the running for Website of the Year at this year’s NAJ Awards, whilst Arabel herself is nominated for the prestigious Designer of the Year award.
