Back in November Benchpeg attended the GEM A Conference in Central London.

It was the first conference since Cath Hill had taken over the helm, and the new venue was spectacular. The conference was packed with an array of the membership and we had some fascinating conversations with delegates about lab grown diamonds vs natural and gemmology in general.
The Winston Red Diamond caused some interest over its ‘fancy red’ colour status as the rarest of its kind, and in particular the presentation around treatments applied to the history of mankind was very much anthropological in nature.
It was certainly educational for us, and highlighted the highly technical nature of gemmology and mineralogy that we’d previously been unaware of.
Dipping the rarest and most priceless red diamond into liquid nitrogen certainly takes some awareness, knowledge and courage !
