BUSCH has a rotating solution for processing angular settings in its 2K-AU carbide cutter with a smooth front surface.
Critical areas when setting angular gemstones such as princess cut diamonds are the edges of the gemstones themselves and the corners of the settings.
In order to avoid damaging the edges of the gemstones when fitting them into square bezel settings, it makes sense to optimise the setting to the geometry of the gemstones. Especially where gravers cannot be used for this work step, the 2K-AU figure with its smooth front surface offers an optimal alternative.
This smooth, non-serrated front surface prevents unwanted milling contacts in the axial direction. Existing polished edges in the axial direction are therefore not damaged by the use of the 2K-AU.
The 2K-AU can also be used, for example, to cut out or separate the individual grains during grain setting as well as to remove the bars between neighbouring gemstones.
The 2K-AU figure also comes with a golden shank ring for easy identification of our AU series finest grain carbide instruments and is therefore ideal for cutting hard materials that are particularly difficult to process, such as platinum, titanium, white gold and jeweller's steel.
