Design Build Cast is a specialist precious metal casting company serving the UK jewellery trade. Our reputation has been built on quality, technical expertise and customer service, producing castings in gold, platinum and other precious metals for jewellers and brands throughout the UK.
Alongside our established London operation, we are expanding our production capability through our new facility in Oldbury, Birmingham.
We are looking for an experienced Wax Worker / Mould Maker to join our Birmingham production team.
This is a skilled, hands-on role within the casting process, producing high-quality wax patterns and moulds for a wide variety of jewellery. The quality and accuracy of the work carried out at this stage has a direct impact on the quality of the finished casting, so attention to detail and consistency are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce wax patterns using injection equipment
- Inspect waxes carefully for defects, distortion and other quality issues
- Clean and prepare waxes ready for the next stage of production
- Produce rubber and silicone moulds from masters
- Cut moulds accurately to enable reliable and repeatable wax production
- Assess existing moulds and identify when repair or replacement is required
- Ensure moulds and waxes are correctly identified and matched to customer jobs
- Maintain accurate job records throughout the production process
- Work closely with colleagues in CAD, casting and other areas of production
- Help maintain consistent quality standards and efficient working practices
- Maintain equipment and keep the working area clean, organised and safe
About You
We are looking for an experienced Wax Worker / Mould Maker with strong practical skills, patience and excellent attention to detail.
Previous hands-on experience of wax injection and mould making within the jewellery industry is essential. You should be confident producing high-quality wax patterns, making and cutting moulds, and recognising defects or problems that could affect the quality of the finished casting.
You will need to be comfortable working with small and intricate pieces where accuracy and consistency are critical, and have a good understanding of the standards required within jewellery manufacture and precious metal casting.
You should be organised, reliable and able to manage your own work effectively while also working as part of the wider production team.

The role offers the opportunity to use and develop traditional jewellery manufacturing skills while working alongside modern CAD and casting technologies.
