About the Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our Jewellery Quarter Casting Team as a Trainee Casting Technician. In this hands-on role, you will learn through observation and practical application, working alongside experienced technicians to develop skills in lost wax casting and precious metal production.

No prior casting experience is required, but attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and a strong work ethic are essential. A positive attitude and eagerness to learn will be key to your success.

Role Responsibilities

  • Build trees with various wax and 3D printed orders
  • Assemble wax trees for each can using supplied waxes and 3D prints.
  • Adjust finger size of waxes when order requires.
  • Weigh out trees to calculate the required casting grain allocation. Record on casting sheet.
  • Invest cans with the relevant investment powder following SOP.
  • Load ovens at the end of the day.
  • Cast cans in relevant casting machine with allocated casting grain. Two casting processes used – centrifugal casting and vacuum casting.
  • After casting, clean off investment in washout area following the wash out procedure.
  • Review casting QC fails on a daily basis to understand reasons and contribute to ongoing quality improvement initiatives.
  • Responsible for the upkeep of casting equipment.
  • Keep the workshop and machines clean and tidy in order to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Assist the wider team when required.

Qualifications and Education

  • Basic level of English reading/writing.
  • Good eyesight.
  • Training will be provided: The trainee will learn through observation and practical application, working alongside experienced technicians.

Working Hours     

  • 37.5 hours per week, 07:00 am – 15:00 pm.
