As the Senior Technical Trainer in our growing team, you will work closely with our academic colleagues to shape the delivery of practical hands-on learning experiences for students on our specialist programmes.

The role is focused on designing and delivering specialist technical teaching for digital jewellery making practices within the School of Jewellery’s Tech Hub. A co-operative and flexible approach is essential and will require the occasional weekend working at promotional events, open days, exhibitions and training events.

As the Senior Technical Trainer, the successful candidate will be comfortable working within a team as well as on their own initiative. You will be expected to carry out all tasks associated with the running of a facility of this kind, as well as supervise other technical staff, this will involve.

  • Designing and delivering course specific technical training programmes

  • Ordering materials and recording material use and stock levels.
  • Championing sustainable working methods and use of resources.
  • Managing appointments and demonstration bookings
  • Creating and reviewing health and safety documentation.
  • Manage equipment loans and distribution.

  • Support the Technical Manager in maximising commercial benefits relating to the Tech Hub

The candidates should be qualified to degree level in a relevant subject (or equivalent level combination of qualifications, skills and experience) and be able to demonstrate significant advanced practical experience of digital jewellery design and production. The candidate should have strong communication skills with an ability to impart technical knowledge to individuals, groups of students, colleagues and external organisations. Have excellent IT skills including standard packages such as Microsoft Office programs, and be familiar with Asset Management software and online communication tools.
