William Hawkes & Son are a jewellers and silversmiths based in Knightsbridge, London. We are a third & fourth generation family-owned business established in the late 1800s, seeking a part time member of staff to complete our close-knit retail team. This is an onsite role for 3 days a week, Monday – Saturday, and would suit current jewellery professionals, or someone with previous sales experience looking to move into the trade.

Responsibilities

Customer service including dealing with in-store, telephone, and online enquiries.
Facilitating repairs, including jewellery, pearl re-stringing, watches, and silverware. Liaise with workshops and customers.
Facilitating special and custom orders, such as engraved items and bespoke designs.
Organising collections and deliveries of repairs.
Maintaining shop, including displays and cleaning of stock.
General admin.

Requested Skills

Customer service experience, with a background in luxury sales preferable.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
A team player, proactive and willing to learn.
An interest in fine jewellery, watches, and/or silverware.
Attention to detail, and the confidence to work with high-value items.
Optional: any jewellery qualifications (JET1), language skills, and/or experience with social media/website brand management are a bonus.

We are a traditional jeweller, offering a range of services including jewellery repairs and alteration, watch servicing, valuations, pearl restringing, engraving, silver restoration and repair, and bespoke pieces.

We are well-established with a diverse and loyal client base, from longstanding Knightsbridge locals to overseas tourists. Working alongside a variety of skilled craftspeople, from goldsmiths to seal engravers, our on-site team includes jewellery designers, appraisers and a gemmologist. Although we are a small business, we maintain strong customer relations with our specialist skillset, quality products, discrete and attentive service, and relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.
