Design Build Cast is a specialist precious metal casting company serving the UK jewellery trade. Our reputation has been built on quality, technical expertise and customer service, producing castings in gold, platinum and other precious metals for jewellers and brands throughout the UK.
Alongside our established London operation, we are expanding our production capability through our new facility in Oldbury, Birmingham.
We are looking for a Production Assistant to join our Birmingham team and support the day-to-day running of the production operation.
This is a varied, hands-on role that will involve working across different areas of production and helping to ensure customer jobs are processed accurately and efficiently. You will work closely with the Production Manager and other members of the team, helping jobs move through the workshop from receipt through to completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the day-to-day processing of customer jobs
- Receive, identify and prepare work for production
- Help coordinate and track jobs through the different stages of the production process
- Check job information and ensure items are correctly identified and recorded
- Update job information and production records using our internal systems
- Assist different areas of production according to workload and priorities
- Carry out appropriate production and workshop tasks following training
- Prepare work for transfer between production stages and between our Birmingham and London operations
- Assist with stock, consumables and production materials
- Help ensure customer deadlines and turnaround times are met
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment
- Support the Production Manager and wider production team as required
About You
We are looking for someone who is organised, practical and exceptionally attentive to detail.
Because we work with customers' jewellery and precious metals, accurate identification, recording and handling of every job is extremely important. You will need to be methodical, reliable and comfortable following established processes while working in a busy production environment.
Previous experience in jewellery manufacturing, precious metals, casting or another production environment would be an advantage, but is not essential. Training can be provided for the right person.
You should be comfortable using computers and willing to learn DBC's production systems as well as the practical aspects of the role.

Working alongside The London Art Works (TLAW), we support CAD, casting and manufacturing across the full production process.
We are expanding into Birmingham and developing a dedicated CAD function to support both our casting clients and the wider trade.
