We are a small independent online retail gemstone and jewellery business providing quality products and services to trade clients and consumers.
We are expanding every year and in need of an Office Retail and Photography Assistant who can help us grow by assisting in bringing products to market, fulfilling orders and general day to day administration of the business.
The successful applicant will be joining a growing and successful business involved in many aspects of the gemstone and jewellery trade.
Our office is located in the JQ modern building with views over the Birmingham city skyline, with access to a beautifully furnished shared kitchen and communal area.
About the Job
- Photography of gemstones (extending to jewellery once proficient) with all training and equipment provided. Basic editing of photos and selection of best photos for listings.
- Website admin & product listing. Listing items and managing stock across several online platforms. Removing the listings when sold, following a set description template when listing the products.
- Fulfilling orders – secure packaging and posting of sold orders to buyers, using Royal Mail Click and drop and certain courier platforms.
- Answering basic customer enquiries by email, Whatsapp and simple social media posting and interaction.
- Dealing with trade contacts in the jewellery quarter, picking up orders, taking pieces to workshops etc.
- Representing the company to the highest standards in all activities.
- Discretion with regard to business operations, customer/supplier details and information, GDPR etc.
- Accurate and detailed desk notes of tasks carried out at the end of each day.
- All training for role and security within the trade provided.
The Candidate
- You will need to be keen to learn, comfortable working independently, accurate and detail oriented and familiar with aspects of online retail.
- For example stock listing, stock tracking, packing and posting, buyer communication and basic social media. Although these can be easily taught and picked up if you are currently unfamiliar with them. You might have experience of or be interested in the jewellery industry, photography, gemstones and/or online business/e-commerce.
- You will need to have good eye sight (as the role involves photography), discretion, reliability and good character.
- Computer literacy is essential as is the ability to multi task without detriment to the essential daily tasks within the business. Good written communication skills required as well as good time management and attention to detail.
- You will be required to go into the office in the Birmingham Jewellery Quarter for at least 2/3 days a week initially (excluding weekends). With the option of 4 or 5 days a week after probation. Although there can be some flexibility with hours and where possible, shifts can be made to fit around you.
- We are looking for someone trustworthy, reliable, competent, and eager to get things right to reduce our workload. In return you will receive a flexible, stable job in a modern office environment.
Salary & Benefits
Starting pay to be agreed with review after 6 month probation.
Depending on efficiency, level of experience and agreed minimum hours.
We are looking for approximately 6-8 hours a day between Monday-Friday (starting with 2/3 days a week) subject to agreement with flexibility for days off when requested.
We are open to discussions if preferred candidate requires more or fewer hours.
This is a great opportunity for a flexible work environment in a modern office in the heart of the Birmingham Jewellery Quarter. There will be allowances for time off and holiday when requested, as long as required work is completed accurately and efficiently.
