Frensham Old Barn Workshop is on the lookout for a talented, friendly, and passionate Jewellery & Silversmithing Tutor to join our teaching team! If you love making jewellery fun, engaging, and accessible, and would enjoy sharing your skills in a creative and supportive environment, we’d love to hear from you!

The Role

You'll lead our popular Saturday workshops, with the flexibility to cover other sessions at times. You'll guide participants through introductory and intermediate-level jewellery-making projects, demonstrating techniques and ensuring they have a fun, hands-on, and rewarding experience.

  • Saturday Workshops: 2-3 Saturdays per month (with occasional flexibility to provide cover for other sessions)
  • Self-Employed Contract
  • £25-£30 per hour (teaching) | £15-£20 per hour (prep/Admin), based on experience
  • Typical hours: Morning session 11am-1:30pm, Afternoon session 3pm-5:30/6pm (with an additional 1 hour prep/pack-up time per session). 
  • Hours are not guaranteed and depend on workshop bookings

Who We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who is truly passionate about their craft, someone who’s not only a skilled jeweller/silversmith but also a great host— who can inspire and engage groups, adapt easily, and bring creativity and energy to every session. You’ll need to confidently demonstrate techniques to classes, guide and support participants with their projects, and lead both small and larger groups with ease. 

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Strong all-round knowledge of silver and precious materials
  • Proficient in soldering, ring/bangle making, stone setting, and bench skills
  • Passion for teaching and inspiring (previous teaching experience is a plus!)
  • Confident demonstrating techniques to small and large groups
  • Excellent problem-solving, leadership, and people skills - ability to think on your feet
  • Ability to represent our brand with professionalism and enthusiasm

  • Flexibility – we understand that as a self employed creative, you may need time away for exhibitions or to peruse your own opportunities, and we will support flexible hours for this if needed and wherever possible. Equally we would require some flexibility in return and would be seeking someone who can accommodate some extra sessions/cover for other tutors on occasion.
  • Free Workshop Access – Use the workshop for your own projects on Saturdays when no bookings are scheduled (8am-8pm).
