Head of Operations

Design Build Cast Birmingham (DBC Birmingham)

Oldbury, Birmingham

Build a Business. Shape a Team. Create a Centre of Excellence.

WE ARE HIRING

Design Build Cast is a specialist precious metal casting company serving the UK jewellery trade, producing castings in gold and platinum for

jewellers and brands throughout the UK. We operate as one team across two locations — our established London operation and a new, purpose-built manufacturing facility in Birmingham.

We are seeking an exceptional Head of Operations to take ownership of the Birmingham business and build the operation from the ground up. This is not a role where you inherit a fully established operation. It is an opportunity to build one.

The Role

  • Leading the day-to-day operation and building efficient production planning and workflow
  • Developing operational systems, procedures and standard operating processes
  • Building and directing the CAD function
  • Establishing quality assurance across the operation, alongside the Head of Casting, who retains technical authority over castings
  • Representing DBC Birmingham to trade customers and building strong external relationships
  • Recruiting, developing and mentoring the Birmingham team
  • Working closely with London as one integrated team, with occasional visits between sites

About You

  • A senior operational leadership background in manufacturing, engineering, technical production or another quality-driven environment
  • The ability to build organisations rather than simply manage them
  • Commercially aware, calm under pressure and a strong communicator

Jewellery industry experience is advantageous but not essential.

Package

Competitive salary dependent on experience, plus company pension contributions, five weeks' holiday plus bank holidays, private healthcare, and semi-flexible working hours once the operation is fully up and running.
