Experienced Bench Jeweller

Tessa Metcalfe Jewellery

6 Laystall Street, Hatton Garden EC1R 4PA

Type: Part time - 3 days per week

Starting salary: £27,450 per annum pro rata (£22 per/hour)

I am looking for an experienced jeweller to join our small workshop team to lovingly handmake my jewellery from start to finish in small batches.

You need to have a minimum of three years workshop experience and be proficient in both cast and handmade jewellery making techniques.

You need a sentiment that enjoys getting your head into a repetitive task like cleaning up a pile of castings or soldering chain, completing each to a high standard. Everything is made in our small workshop from start to finish so we require a full range of jewellery making skills to assist in creating both collection and one-off jewellery designs.

But this is not just a bench work job, I am looking for someone with the ability to understand jewellery production at every level, to oversee workflow and create efficient change where needed.

I am looking for someone that would love the challenge of working out the best way to create a new and complicated design that I’ve come up with. That would relish thinking through how best to make things discussing all the possibilities together.

You need initiative and good problem solving skills, we are a really small team so you need to be both enthusiastic, calm and self lead.

As one woman running this company, designing and making everything in house, I rely heavily on a few people to support me to make this all work.

The position is well paid and only three days a week to support you within your own creative process also. I am looking for someone that this suits long term, if that’s not you for whatever reason then please do not apply.

  • Gemmology knowledge
  • Confident and experienced handmade skills; making collets etc
  • ... Please mention anything else that might be useful
