Casting Technician – Gold and Platinum

Design Build Cast Ltd

Oldbury, Birmingham

Build a Business. Shape a Team. Create a Centre of Excellence.

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
Job Type: Full time, permanent

Design Build Cast is a specialist precious metal casting company serving the UK jewellery trade. Our reputation has been built on quality, technical expertise and customer service, producing castings in gold, platinum and other precious metals for jewellers and brands throughout the UK.

We are looking for an experienced Casting Technician to join our new Birmingham production facility in Oldbury.

We have made a substantial investment in a high-quality fit-out and the latest casting and production equipment, creating a dedicated environment for jewellery manufacture. Every aspect of the facility has been developed with the quality, precision and care our customers expect in mind.

Joining at this stage offers the chance to help shape a new production operation within an established business. You will put your casting skills to work with modern equipment, contribute ideas as production develops and have opportunities to broaden your experience as the Birmingham operation grows.

Our casting work is principally in gold and platinum. We are looking for someone who enjoys the practical challenges of casting and takes pride in producing consistently high-quality work.

The work

Working closely with colleagues, you will carry out precious metal investment casting and associated preparation, operate casting equipment and check completed castings. You will also help identify casting problems and work with the team to improve results.

The role includes caring for equipment, maintaining accurate production records and handling precious metals and customers’ work carefully. As part of a small team, you will contribute across the production process to keep work moving and meet deadlines.

Our standards depend on care and accuracy at every stage. We want someone who shares that approach and is keen to contribute their knowledge and experience.

Who we are looking for

Practical experience of jewellery investment casting is essential. Experience with gold or platinum is welcome; experience with both would be an advantage.

Training will be provided on our machinery and production systems.

You should be reliable, organised and comfortable working closely with colleagues. Experience of preparation, investing, burnout and recognising common casting defects would also be useful.
