About the Role
We are seeking a forward-thinking Associate Lecturer in Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Creative Digital Skills to join our BA (Hons) Jewellery Design & Production Course. This is an exciting opportunity for a creative digital practitioner who is passionate about teaching, emerging technologies, and contemporary jewellery practice.
You will play a key role in developing and delivering innovative digital curricula, fostering technical and creative excellence, and ensuring our students gain the skills needed to thrive in a rapidly evolving industry. Working collaboratively within a dynamic course team, you will help shape the course vision, contribute to research and knowledge exchange, and expand the course’s digital capabilities.
Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging, inclusive teaching in CAD, digital design, and creative technologies.
- Develop curricula that push boundaries, promote diversity, and respond to emerging digital practices.
- Provide effective academic and pastoral support, monitoring attendance and progress.
- Conduct rigorous formative and summative assessments aligned with Academy standards.
- Maintain and grow your subject expertise through active scholarship and engagement with contemporary debates.
- Contribute to course planning, quality monitoring, and enhancement activities across the Academy.
- Ensure the curriculum remains current, relevant, and responsive to student needs.
- Support recruitment, admissions processes, and maintain accurate student records.
- Promote a culture of digital innovation across the Course and wider Academy community.
- Build partnerships with industry, peers, and external organisations, contributing to knowledge exchange and professional engagement.
- Enhance cross-course collaborations and support activities that enrich student learning and graduate outcomes.
- Participate in pedagogic inquiry, teaching development, and curriculum decolonisation initiatives.
- Engage students in feedback processes and help address issues collaboratively.
- Contribute to events, exhibitions, research, and other activities that raise the profile of the subject and Academy.
Person Specification
- Specialist Knowledge
- Degree in a relevant subject area (postgraduate qualification desired).
- Expertise in digital design and CAD software relevant to jewellery.
- Strong understanding of jewellery production using computer-aided manufacturing tools.
- Experience in research and/or professional digital practice.
Skills
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to adapt for diverse audiences.
- Strong organisational, planning, and teamwork capabilities.
- Knowledge of inclusive pedagogies and the ability to innovate digital learning experiences.
- Ability to generate creative solutions and apply research to teaching practice.
- Experience
- Teaching and assessment experience in Higher Education.
- Experience working with emerging digital technologies in a creative or academic context.
- Use of diverse software in jewellery or related design practice.
- Evidence of collaboration, partnership building, or knowledge exchange activities.
- Experience addressing awarding gaps, curriculum decolonisation, or wider sector debates (desirable).

This role requires an enhanced DBS check.
